The first voyage that we took in Picaroon from Salinas in Puerto Rico heading for St Thomas in the USVI, this is our shakedown cruise, where we had a few incidents. Transmission cable snapped, engine failure on more than one occasion and ruining the compass due to incompetent crew. And our first escort of Dolphins welcomes us home, The Mona passage is the stretch of sea between Puerto Rico and the Dominican republic. It has a reputation for being a difficult passage, and will take us about 36 hours to cross, meaning an overnight sail. It will be only our second overnight passage. (June 2014.)
